is using the unused human talent power and ethnicity which was buried due to the western
outcome from the past years. The concept of ethnicity and organized retailing is flourishing and
providing the growth aspects to the local vendors and the manufacturers, merchants and the
traders to earn a better living. Various government and the non government initiatives had
propelled these marketers to develop themselves in the most acceptable way. Selling the
handmade products like the home décor, textiles, folk art, clothing, jeweler, toys, musical
instruments designed by the artisans all over the world are posing a great competition and these
products have a high demand in the international and the national markets.
The shoppers are utilizing these beautiful ethnic make ups, so as to differentiate themselves from
others, building unique proposition to themselves. The existing marketers are utilizing and
building themselves on the words of the Mahatma, “India is not to be found in its few cities but
in the 70,000 villages”. It had been a boon to the apparel industry which had been emancipated
as one of the major sectors of growth and the increasing national income for India. According t
the eighth annual global retail development index (GRDI) of AT Kearney, Indian retail industry
is the most promising emerging market for the investments. The retail trade is contributing to the
India’s GDP, in 2009 it rose to 12%, it is also expected to reach 22% by 2010.
The actual growth had taken place in the home décor; store designs and the accessories
exposition in every region. India is considered as the hub of all creative and the innovative
designing wherein the past culture and the proposition is actually contributing for the actual
performance.
Now a day, the actual focus of the retailers is to determine, wherein they can actually collaborate
or merge their experience and the technology solutions together; so as to allow themselves to

measure the cost and the benefits of the better practices. The actual stress must been the wide
range of retail support solutions which is actually proliferating the wide range of the retail
support solutions. The 2009 edition of the Indian shop gains the special significance as it
presents the unique concepts of the growth in the apparel industry. The unbounded growth
prospects had been emancipated by various designers who are actually building up for the
growth prospects of India. Even the recession had not been the major factor so as to reduce the
growth of the apparel producing country.
Apparel Fashion in India
Fashion is a huge industry in India. With globalization Indian Fashion has got a wider platform
to display their talents and introduce the 'Sari' to the world. India was always known as a country
of jungles, snakes and poverty. But this has changed over the last decade. One of the reasons of
India competing in the race among the leading countries of the world is because of its sudden
burst of fashion exposure - both within and beyond the country.
India is a diverse nation and does not have one particular style to call its own. However, fashion
in India placed itself on the map creating its own unique identity of FUSION - the beautiful
blend and combination of various dressing styles in the country. Right from the traditional salwar
kameez or sarees to churidars, kurtis, the semi formal way of wearing it over trousers or jeans,
Capri’s and the highly elegant and contemporary style of draping sarees, from simply cotton
blouses to halter-neck, puffed sleeves, deep necks, and lycra-fitted blouses. Apart from regional
attires, the Bollywood element also holds a domineering part in Indian Fashion style.
Unutilized Indian Potential in Apparels
India had a huge potential in the apparel industry. But most of it is unrealized on our part. The
reason is not the cheap labor, its agriculture productivity but the huge unexplored designs present
in India. The rich Indian culture and the past heritage in the form of its ancient scriptures and the
model art works should be a major area of concern wherein the high availability of the trained
artists is the area wherein we should depend. The immense designer structures, types of fabrics
and the creativity which had been highly diversified all through the India. If we analyze the
Indian growth aspects in the apparel industry, it can actually achieve the great heights, we can

earn a huge amount of revenue by actually exporting these goods which have the huge demand
all through the world.
The Indian apparel industry also has a vast existence in the economic life of the country. It plays
a critical role in the economic development of the country with its contribution to industrial
output, export earnings of the country and the generation of employment. It has seen remarkable
changes in the past few years and it is also one of the India largest foreign exchange earners.
Embroidery being the traditional art form of the country has contributed hugely for apparel
industry. Indian embroidery market stands out as being extraordinary in the international
markets.
The rich Indian designs have the huge value as they were created years ago and show the
glimpse of ethnicity in the art works. The Indian designing had been highly valued in most of the
developing countries wherein the people are actually very much concerned about the
mythological and the ancient happenings. The scenario inside borders had been quite diversified,
from Kashmir to Kanyakumari everyone is highly developing themselves being a part of a SME,
which is promoting to the growth of these local designers and the traders ultimately building up
their lifestyles in the most acceptable way.
Steps to Combat Recession
In the coming months, retail industry needs to focus on the approaches of the big giants, and how
they can cope with their operating strategy. This is an ideal time for the companies to take tough
operating decisions, and create changes in the business that is hard to push when the business is
doing fairly well. Recession is inevitable for any country, but if the adequate measures are taken
at the right time, the industry can bounce back. Recessionary times from an optimistic preview
help to pull the business for putting ahead of competition.
Conclusion
There is a high need of contributing on exploring the USP and finding out the new opportunities
in the rich Indian past tradition and culture, building up the castles which can contribute to the
growth of India in the most acceptable way. Through this writing I just want t o light up the
fragrance of the rich Indian tradition in the minds of the thousands of Indian professionals so as

is not less than wherein the rural India will contribute to the success of India so as to make it a
developed and a rich India and then it will be renamed as the golden bird. Also, if the organized
retailing is collaborated with the above concept then this will add laurels to the Indian feather
wherein it will add value to the country as well as the people in it.
